Barcelona Airport: New Terminal 1

Gallery

It is not easy to have the chance to enjoy an airport before its opening and to enjoy a massive terminal area absolutely empty. For those who travelled to or via Barcelona T1 will understand much better the magnitude of such an empty space, today used by thousands of people every day at almost any time.

Open in 2099, it has an area of 648,000 m2 and an aircraft ramp of 600,000 m2

My interest for the decontextualization of architecture begins already on my early years as student in Salamanca (Spain). However, it is on my three-year-stay in Barcelona when it gets to a better point of experimentation.

These two pictures have been taken in the area called Forum. The first one is a close up of the former main Building of the Forum 2004 (Blue Museum nowadays) and a second one of some of the decorative items along the conventions center in the area.
